Elly is hot under the collar about something....

Has Music Become a Spectator Sport?

I ask this question remembering the jaw-dropping amazement of our introduction to Susan Boyle. A plain-jane, dumpy looking, British spinster that blew us away as soon as she opened her mouth. Music is to be heard, and to be enjoyed, no matter how God designed the package it comes from. I don't listen to Charlie Daniels because he is drop-dead gorgeous. I LISTEN because I like what I HEAR. The main stream music industry overlooks a lot of God given natural talent because of the "packaging" and that's a damm shame. Terrestrial radio has become a merry-go-round of the same handful of artists, with the same songs over and over and over again, no matter what the genre of the station is—country, rock, blues, or gospel. Nothing is fresh and stimulating to the ear. That's why I love my job. I get to listen to new submissions from independent artists for" On The Horizon" almost every day. Good music that you won't hear on terrestrial radio stations. You could listen to a year's worth of "On The Horizon" (that's 52 hours of music) and never hear the same song twice! That doesn't happen on terrestrial radio. So get off the dollar driven merry-go-round of music broadcasts, put your feet up and enjoy some of the Susan Boyles that you won't hear anywhere else.
